Walt Disney World Marathon | 1995 | 31 | 4:04 [clock] | I didn't know what I was in for. A real struggle the last 5 miles. | |
Walt Disney World Marathon | 1996 | 32 | 4:00:12 [clock] | My net finish was around 3:55 so I'll count that as achieving my sub 4 hour goal. I still struggled late but it was a much better experience. | |
| x | Walt Disney World Marathon | 1997 | 33 | DNF | I had fever and flu conditions the day before and I couldn't
replace the lost fluids. I pulled out at mile 17 and needed 2 iv's
before they would let me go. Lesson learned, don't run a marathon when you're sick. |

Walt Disney World Marathon | 1/10/99 | 35 | 3:48:06 | 8:43 | 2878/10165 | I finally broke through the 4 hour barrier [officially] Also the first time that I ran the entire marathon.
Hops Marathon Tampa | 12/10/00 | 37 | 4:32:35 | 10:24 | 1152/2296 | Hot and humid makes for a very slow race. I ran a good first half but I couldn't keep up with the loss of fluids and started to cramp up around mile 15. It was walk-run-walk the rest of the way. This bad experience led to me not running for 4 1/2 years.
Walt Disney World Marathon | 1/707 | 43 | 4:27:58 | 10:13 | 2558/10997 | Another brutally hot and humid marathon. I was soaked with sweat by mile 4 my only goal after that was to finish. A cold front dropped the temperature into the high 30's 2 days later.
Walt Disney World Marathon | 1/13/08 | 44 | 3:39:11 | 8:21 | 545/13950 | Training harder than ever resulted in beating my previous PR by 9 minutes. The temp stayed in the low 70's with lower humidity. My goal of a 3:30 BQ time seems very realistic now.
Chicago Marathon | 10/12/08 | 45 | 3:53:25 | 8:54 | 5090/31345 | Another HOT marathon. The race started around 68 and shot up to 85 by the end. I ran hard hoping that I could beat the inevitable but the heat won out around mile 17. Way too hot for me to reach my BQ but I still had a great time and will definitely run this race again.
Philadelphia Marathon | 11/23/08 | 45 | 3:30:20 | 8:01 | 1233/7261 | Finally my BQ!!! The weather was clear and cold. The temp ranged from 26 to 32. Overall the organization and course were great. I will run this race again.
Rock 'n Roll Arizona Marathon | 1/18/09 | 45 | 3:49:27 | 8:46 | 1392/6411 | The temps heated up quickly (50 to 70 in first hour). I was on pace (3:30) but at mile 15 the heat started to take its toll and by mile 20 it was a struggle to finish. I have to learn to settle for a higher time when temps aren't cool.
Boston Marathon | 4/20/09 | 45 | 3:31:45 | 8:05 | 7778/22849 | What an awesome race! The temps were in the mid to high 40's throughout the race. I went out a little faster than I wanted to but was able to save enough for the Newton Hills. The spectators were amazing and helped me nearly PR on the toughest course I have raced so far. I can't wait until next year.
Rock 'n Roll San Diego Marathon | 5/31/09 | 45 | 3:46:35 | 8:39 | 1568/13328 | I ran a fast first half but the humidity and small hills did me in. The weather was cloudy and in the 60's the entire race. I struggled after mile 20 but I'm not sure if running slower early on would have helped.
Hartford Marathon | 10/10/09 | 46 | 3:51:48 | 8:51 | 675/2290 | low 60's and humid on a hilly course. I knew it was a long shot but I decided to go for a PR. I kept 3:30 pace for the 1st half but lost it after that. last 3 miles were a real struggle. Temps the next morning were in the low 30's
Marathon of the Palm Beaches | 12/6/09 | 46 | 3:37:33 | 8:19 | 92/585 | Crazy weather during the race, temps ranged from high 50's to 70 with clouds and windy to sunny and back to clouds and windy. My goal was to run the entire race and finish under 3:40. I kept a steady pace of 8-8:30 for most of the race. The last few miles were pushing 9.
Walt Disney World Marathon | 1/10/10 | 46 | 3:29:55 | 8:01 | 547/16883 | Sub freezing temps seem to be ideal for me. Race temps of 28-32 resulted in a PR and 2011 BQ. I felt great throughout the race until my knee started hurting at mile 20. I still managed to stay with the 3:30 pace group. Just before mile 25 I tripped and fell but was able to get up and finish.
Boston Marathon | 4/19/10 | 46 | my 2011 BQ in hand I still want a BQ in Boston | ||
Chicago Marathon | 10/10/10 | 47 | |||
California International Marathon | 12/5/10 | 47
